looking for answers regarding MakaBeauty Hawaii products?
here are some of our most frequently asked questions…

Q: What is the makaLiner system?
A:
Instead of using traditional lash glues, which tend to be messy and take time to set up in order to create a bond, we use an eyeliner pen to allow you to place the adhesive directly to your eyelid without mess and lengthy wait times. Line with the precision applicator tip, apply your lash, and “aloha” — more time for the things you want to do!

Q: Can I only use your lashes with your liner?
A: No.
We love our lash options (and think you will too!), but if you have a favorite style of lash that we don’t currently offer, you can use our liner with any style of strip lash.

Q:
How many times can I reuse the lashes?
A: Our lashes can be used up to 25-30 wears — depending on appropriate handling and care.

Q: Are your lashes magnetic?
A: No. We use an eyeliner adhesive to bond the lashes to your lash line. Our liner does not work with magnetic lashes.

Q: Do I need to trim the lashes?
A: We highly recommend this for the best wear experience. Eyelashes are not a “one size fits all” product ;)

Measure up each makaLash™ against your clean, corresponding eyelid. Using a sharp pair of scissors, clip the excess from the outer end of the lash to the length of each eyelid. tip: cut less than you think initially… you can always trim them further if necessary. To get a good waterproof bond, make sure your lashes are slightly shorter than your eyelid length.

optional: You can trim the ends of the cotton lash band at a 45º angle (towards the top center of the lash) to help reduce the blunt look of a trimmed lash.

(This instruction card will come in your order!)

Q: How do I apply the lashes?
A: After trimming the lashes, s
hake the makaLiner™ eyeliner pen a few times to mix the adhesive ingredients.

  • Pull off the end cap (do not unscrew) to expose the precision point applicator tip.
  • Apply makaLiner pen adhesive onto clean, dry skin along the lash line with a single thin line or several thin strokes (no need to create thick heavy lines!). Replace lid.
  • Using your fingers or lash applicators, apply the lash to the eyelid as close as possible to your natural lash line as possible without delay. The eyeliner loses its adhesive magic if you wait too long — so no waiting or long dry time needed!
  • Repeat on other eyelid.
  • Once finished, store liner in a cool, dry place. Be sure the liner cap is snapped on tight to avoid drying out the tip!

Q:
I don’t like where I put the lash / I didn’t get the lash in the right spot / my lash is bothering my upper eyelid. How do I fix it?
A: Simply remove the lash by peeling it off the eyelid by the lash band and repeat the application process. If you need to retry placement more than a few times, clean the extra eyeliner adhesive from your eyelid with a waterproof makeup cleanser and let your skin dry before applying again.

note: If you have placed the lash correctly, you will notice there is “something” on your eyelid, but shouldn't really feel anything that bothers or irritates your eye.

Q: How long can I wear the lashes?
A:
Our lashes are recommended for all-day wear, but not for swimming or sleeping. Remove your lashes before either of these activities, and store in the original box to keep them clean and dry for the next application.

Q:
How do I remove the lashes?
A: Simply remove the lash by peeling it off the eyelid by the lash band from your lash line. Place lashes back into their box for storage to keep them clean and dry for the next application.

Q: What should I use to remove the adhesive residue from my eyelid?
A: Dip one end of a cotton swab in your favorite waterproof eye makeup cleanser or cleansing oil and gently rub to remove the adhesive residue from your eyelid. Wipe away any excess cleanser with an additional facial tissue or cotton pad.

Q: How do I clean the lashes?
A: You can easily remove any adhesive buildup on the lash band with your fingernail. Do not use any alcohol-based cleansers as this will damage the lash fibers by drying them out and making them brittle.

With proper care, you should not have to “clean” your lashes. If you must on occasion, saturate one end of a cotton swab in your favorite waterproof eye makeup cleanser (avoid any oil-based cleansers). Gently swipe the underside of the lash with the damp cotton swab in one direction (from the lash band to the tips of the lashes) to remove any dirt or additional makeup, and let air dry.

Q: What are makaLashes made out of?
A: We believe in products that are vegan and cruelty-free. Our lashes are made with faux (imitation) mink (synthetic Korean PBT [polybutylene terephthalate]) fibers for a soft, fluffy and natural look.

Q: What are the ingredients in makaLiner?
A: We strive for latex-free, hypoallergenic products to allow more people to wear our amazing products.

  • Black makaLiner: Hema Acetoacetate, Sodium Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Aqua, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (water-soluble polymer), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Color CI 77499
  • Clear makaLiner: Hema Acetoacetate, Sodium Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Aqua, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (water-soluble polymer), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol

Q:
What is the difference between the eyeliner color options?
A:
The only difference is preference and your comfort level in applying an eyeliner. If you feel that you can apply the liner with a steady hand, choose the black liner. The black liner also fills in the gaps between your natural lash line and the black cotton lash band to create a seamless look.

If you need a little more “wiggle room” for application, choose the clear liner. You can also apply the clear liner over your favorite colored eyeliner! Be sure to apply the lash band as close to your natural lash line as possible.
